The Throne of Silence is my exploration of a dreamscape meant to evoke deep melancholy and wonder. By placing a small, solitary figure against the backdrop of colossal cliffs and a radiant moon, I sought to portray the poetic dialogue between the ephemeral human soul and the eternal power of the nocturnal world.
Technique and Process
To bring this fairytale atmosphere to life, I utilized a contrast of painterly techniques:

Fluid Washes: I used specialized pouring and wash techniques to create the misty, ethereal layers of the sky and the atmospheric haze of the valley.

Palette Knife Sculpting: In contrast to the fluid areas, I used a palette knife to "build" the rugged anatomy of the mountains. These bold, thick strokes give the ancient stone a physical, tactile presence that catches the light and adds a three-dimensional depth to the canvas.
